SUPER PARADISE
Steve Krikris / 2024 / 88' / Greece, Germany
Over the past five decades, the Greek island of Mykonos has undergone a dramatic transformation. Once a peaceful and affordable haven for travelers, artists, and bohemians, it has become one of the most luxurious tourist hotspots in the Mediterranean. A former home to free spirits and inclusivity – especially beloved by the LGBTQ+ community – Mykonos today stands as a symbol of excess and high-priced pleasure. The everyday life of locals is increasingly pushed aside by flashy villas, private beaches, mega yachts, and endless parties. What is lost when an island becomes a global brand? The film explores the tension between past and present, between memories of community and the reality of commercialization. Is Mykonos still a paradise – and if so, for whom?
