MY STOLEN PLANET
Farahnaz Sharifi / 2024 / 82' / Germany, Iran
‘My Stolen Planet’ is a deeply personal, diary-style film by Iranian filmmaker Farah, born during the 1979 Islamic revolution. It contrasts her life’s moments of joy and defiance against oppression while she preserves memories through 8mm archives from strangers. Her connection with Leyla, an Iranian professor who fled the revolution, brings a personal touch to one of these memories. Farah’s mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s highlights the fight against forgetting. The film reaches a climax with the 2022 Women, Life, Freedom uprising, marking a transformative chapter in Farah's life and Iranian history. It is a poignant exploration of memory, resistance, and the personal histories that shape us collectively.
