‘The Super 8 Years’ is a delicate journey into Nobel Prize-winning writer Annie Ernaux’s family memories. Using textured home movie footage from 1972 to 1981, Ernaux and her son David guide us through a decade of personal and political significance, from suburban France to travels in Albania, Egypt, Spain, and the USSR. With Ernaux's introspective voiceover, the film extends her literary project of making sense of the mysterious past and the unknowable future.
