Googoosh – Made of Fire tells the story of the greatest pop star in Iranian history. Googoosh began singing at the age of three and, before the 1979 revolution, had become an icon of modern Iran. After the rise of Khomeini’s regime, she was banned from performing and placed under house arrest. Twenty years later, she returned to the stage outside her homeland. In 2022, following the death of Mahsa Amini – which sparked a protest movement that continues to transform Iran – Googoosh embarks on a farewell tour. This powerful documentary offers an emotional portrait of a woman who became a symbol of hope and resistance against the oppression of women in Iran.
