A father and son, both poets, set out on a journey filled with humour and bittersweet memories to uncover what lies between the lines of their relationship, exploring their bloodline and an old family myth about a possible connection to a Hollywood legend. As they piece together their family tree, a collage of characters emerges – a librarian in a mobile library, an elderly farmer, a Croatian John Malkovic lookalike, Malkovich himself and people from around the world sharing the Malkovich surname. Will the father and son lose their bond in the attempt to strengthen it?
